Thomas H. Schunk, 71, Altoona, passed away Saturday evening at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Arthur and Betty (Marshall) Schunk. On February 12, 2000, he married Debbie Mackey in Altoona.
In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by a son, Douglas Schunk and wife Renae of State College; two grandchildren: Matthew and Hannah Schunk; two brothers: Steve Schunk and wife Debbie of Pittsburgh and Richard Schunk and wife Susan of Tallmadge, OH; nieces and nephews: Andrew Schunk and wife Gina of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Jessica Schunk (Stephen Parkinson) of Pittsburgh; and a brother-in-law, Jim Mackey and wife Michelle of Altoona.
Thomas was a 1967 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired as an electrician from IBEW Local Union 5.
He was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church, Mountain Lodge # 281, and the Jaffa Shrine. He was Sergeant at Arms for Blair and Bedford Central Labor Council.
Thomas was an avid football fan; he especially loved Penn State Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed fishing and loved his visits to Sheetz, Mrs. Groves and Austin’s Texas Hot Dogs. He was a wonderful husband and devoted father and grandfather.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Dover Air Force Base during the Vietnam Era.
At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Alto Reste Park.
