William W. Rickard, Sr.

William W. Rickard, Sr., 85, Altoona, passed away Tuesday morning at his home. He was born in Philipsburg, a son of the late Willis and Louella (Minto) Rickard. On March 19, 1955, he married Helen (Grum) Rickard. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2007. He is survived by six children: William W., Jr and wife Bonnie of Tyrone, Cheryl Swires and husband Tim of Fallentimber, Louise Myers and husband Thomas of Sinking Valley, Brenda Farrell and husband Tony of Altoona, Barbara Rickard of Altoona, and Michael of St. Pete, FL; ten grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Rickard; a brother, Chester; an infant sister, Ellen; and his grandfather, Charles, who raised him. William worked as a coal miner for Rushton and also worked as a superintendent for Shoe Factory. He was an avid hunter. At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
