William E. "Old Bill" McLaughlin, 92, Tyrone, died Monday morning, November 11, 2024, at The Preserve at Cedarwood, Tyrone. He was born June 4, 1932, in Altoona, a son of the late William E. & Helen O. (Isenberg) McLaughlin. He married Winifred M. (Winnie) Kennedy on August 19, 1960, in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2013.
Surviving are two children, daughter Beth A. Garbinsky (Ronald), of Tyrone, step-son Jeffrey L. Kennedy (Karen), of Hollidaysburg, four grandchildren, Brooke A. Bayer (Jared), Ronald W. Garbinsky, II, Jeffrey C. Kennedy, Julie Kennedy and two great grandsons, Noah Bayer and Gavin Bayer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly A. Thompson.
"Old Bill" retired as the owner/operator of McLaughlin Oil for 45 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata. He was also a member of the Lakemont Lions Club and the Roaring Spring Lions Club where he had perfect attendance for more than 60 years and the Travelers Protective Association where he held various offices over the years.
Friends will be received from 3-5pm Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where the Lakemont Lions Club will have a memorial service at 3 pm. A funeral service will be held at 5pm with Pastor Traci Marriott, officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Logan Twp.
