The Rev. Byron Shafer-Stroud

The Rev. Byron Shafer-Stroud, 83, died Saturday, surrounded by family. Still celebrating the life of Byron are his wife, Elaine; two daughters: Peggy McCoy and husband Ken and Catherine Martin and husband John; two sons: Robert Stroud and wife Susan and Micah Stroud and wife Meghan; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A remembrance service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Altoona, 16601. A visitation with family will be held prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to the Williamsburg Public Library to honor Byron’s passion for learning or to please plant a tree in his memory to honor his desire to help future generations live in a better world.
