Shirley Stoyanoff, 79, Tyrone, passed away Thursday morning at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Sherrill and Alice (Justice) Laird. On December 28, 1974, she married John F. Stoyanoff. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2001. She is survived by two daughters: Debbie Snyder of Charleston, SC and Cheryl Zelanko of Tyrone; two sons: Jeff Stoyanoff (Marsha) and John Stoyanoff (Susan); a sister, Barbara Edwards (Bill) of Altoona; grandchildren: Anaya Jacques (Tiffany), Eryn Varano (Todd), Derek Snyder, Caitlin Snyder, Dr. Jeffrey Stoyanoff (Jason Long), Matthew Stoyanoff (Denice), Alex Stoyanoff, and Koryn Stoyanoff; great granddaughter, Ariel; a cousin, Beverly Minnich; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved German shepherd, Miah. Shirley graduated from the Altoona School of Commerce. She retired in 1997 after 30 years of service from the Altoona Hospital as a patient account manager. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and sister. She loved animals and caring for them, especially German shepherds and she volunteered for 16 years at the Central PA Humane Society. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
