Shirley Marie (Burket) Stauffer, 94, Altoona, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in East Juniata, daughter of the late Charles I. and Elva Margaret (Feight) Burket. On January 20, 1950, she married Richard C. Stauffer in Fort Loudon, PA. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2024.
She is survived by a sister, Beverly Neil of Altoona and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stauffer of Bellefonte. She is also survived by a special niece and her husband, Carol and Alan Klein of Cumberland, MD who were always there to guide her in every way they could; plus many other loving nieces and nephews, all of them special to Dick and Shirley throughout their 74 years together.
She was preceded in death by six brothers: Kenneth, Charles, Richard, Donald, Dean and Clyde; two sisters: Margaret Thompson and Wilma Swab; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Stauffer.
Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School. She worked at A&P Warehouse in the billing department and the Altoona School District where she worked as an aide. She also worked for the Altoona Area Education Association, where she retired after 18 years of service as an office secretary.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and solitaire.
At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. Inurnment will take place at Blair Memorial Park.
