Shirley M. Grace, 80, Altoona, passed away late Saturday evening at Garvey Manor surrounded by her family. She was born in Summerhill, daughter of the late Harry and Martha (Kuklo) Swanger. On October 8, 1955, she married Darrell Lee “D.D.” Grace, Sr. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2009. Shirley is survived by a son, Donald Scott, Sr. and wife, Rae, of Altoona; two daughters: Connie McNelis and husband, Mike, of Bellwood and Tammy Grabill and husband, Terry, of Altoona; 14 grandchildren: Brenda Wilt, Jody Partner, Renee Swogger, Michael and Tyler McNelis, Nikki Walls, Dylan, Scott, Jr., Caitlin and Jordan Grace, Amber Zabinsky, and John Ross, Krystal Rhodes, and Karinn Ross; 22 great grandchildren: Blair, Lauren, Paige, Cole, Atherton, Dalton, Alyson, Jalynn, Bradyn, Camden, Kendall, Easton, Anara, Christian, Addison, Avery, Berkeley, Odin, Everett, Connor, Paisley, and Liam; a sister, Iris of Altoona; a brother, Donald of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell L., Jr. and six siblings: Louie, Charlotte, Pattie, Chet, Sara, and Dave. Shirley was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles and attending craft shows. She was an avid Bellwood Blue Devils, girls’ basketball fan and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601 and from 10 until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 12 at Wehnwood United Methodist Church, 2511 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona, 16601. Pastor Evelyn Madison officiating. Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery.
