Sally A. Strawmire

Sally A. Strawmire, 82, Altoona, died peacefully at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Norman and Elizabeth (Ralston) Davis. On June 17, 1961, she married Jay E. Strawmire at Holy Rosary Parish. In addition to her husband, Jay, of 60 years, she is survived by a son, Michael P. Strawmire of Altoona; a daughter, Michele A. Sumser and husband Dan of Lake Worth, FL; beloved grandchildren: Hannah M. Strawmire (USN) of Altoona and Jaydan P. Sumser of FL; and a sister, Judy M. Brunnhuber of Altoona. She was preceded in death by three infant sons: John, Joseph, and David. Sally was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1960 graduate from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing as an R.N. She served at Altoona Hospital and after raising a family, she served as an instructor in the Nurse’s Aide Program at the Altoona VoTech. She was a long-time member of Simpson Temple United Parish and a strong lover of animal welfare. At her request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be made at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc.
