S. Jean Pittman

Sara “Jean” Pittman, 100, of Altoona, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Hollidaysburg, PA, to the late Harry W. and Mary Ann (Benton) Crain.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Pittman, who passed away on December 19, 2004, and her daughter, Karen J. (Focht) Pittman. She is survived by her four grandchildren: Brian Focht, Brent Focht, Kimberly Santos, and Kelly Musselman; as well as eleven great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Ryan, Bailey, Hunter, Liam, Anthony, Brandin, Colton, Alexis, Bradley, and Brooklynn. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Rogers, Ethel Reisinger, and Peggy Gutshall.

A graduate of Altoona Area High School, class of 1941, Jean was actively involved in her community as a member of the Christian Women’s Club and served as President of the Girl Scouts for the district. She was a devoted member of Altoona Alliance Church, where her faith and love for the Lord shone brightly.

Jean was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her warmth and caring spirit. She took immense pride in her family and loved spending time with them, creating lasting memories. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling and playing cards with friends.

Jean will be remembered for her heart of gold, her unwavering faith, and her ability to bring joy to those around her. Her legacy of love and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

A celebration of  life will be held from 4pm - 6pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home where a service will begin at 6pm, with Pastor Tim McGarvey, officiating.  Interment will be at Alto Reste Park. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and share their cherished memories.
