Robert A. McConnell, 83, Altoona, passed away Monday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Cumberland, MD, son of the late Melvin and Mary Elva (Nee) McConnell. On October 5, 1958, he married May E. Temple in Winchester, VA. In addition to his wife, May, of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Otto of Bellwood; three grandchildren: Kimberly (Brent), Caitlynn, and Shannon; two great grandchildren: Madison and Paige; a brother, Michael Karl McConnell of Germantown, TN; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara McConnell of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas McConnell; a son-in-law, Steven; and three siblings: Melva Corrine Miller, Harold L. McConnell, and Paul Thomas McConnell. Robert attended First Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Boy Scouts for over 55 years, enjoyed gardening and gambling, and was an avid reader. He most importantly enjoyed spending time with his family and was known as “Mr. Fix It”. He served in the U.S. Navy. At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held.
