Phyllis E. Walters

Phyllis E. Walters, 86, Altoona, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family Wednesday evening.

She was born in Altoona, daughter to the late James and Thelma (Clark) Kipp. On January 19, 1952, she married Robert G. Walters in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1996.

Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Cathy Gallagher and husband Wayne of Altoona; a son, Robert Walters, Sr. and wife Lee Ann of Altoona; three grandchildren: Robert Walters, Jr. and wife Alyssa, Valerie Ballarotto and husband Scott, and Ryan Gallagher; five great grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Gearhart and husband Gary of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Russell Walters of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Janice Malady and Dorcas Walters; and a nephew, James Kipp.

Phyllis was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of the Juniata United Methodist Church, the Cornerstone Chapel-Sunday School Class, the Cheerful Workers, Order of the Eastern Star-Altoona Chapter, the Jobel Court-Ladies Oriental Shrine, was Past High Priestess of Jobel Court, and a lifelong member of the Altoona High School Alumni Association. She served as a member of the Talus Rock Girl Scout Council-Girl Scout Leader at Camp Happy Trails.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cards and camping.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the Noon Funeral Service on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4^th Street, Altoona, 16601 with Rev. Julia Piper officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juniata United Methodist Church, UPMC Family Hospice, or the Shriners Hospital.
