Patrick J. Mitchell

Patrick J. Mitchell, 67, Altoona, passed away Monday.

He was born in Huntingdon, son of Donna Jean Mitchell.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bess A. (Luke) Mitchell of Altoona; four children: Ryan Mitchell (Stephanie), Angela Bongiorno, Erin Mitchell and James Dunn, all of Altoona; grandchildren: Kylie, Hailey, Anthony, Aidan, James, Tito, Aster, Jaelyn and Melia; great grandchildren: Noelle and Elias; siblings: Michael Hurm of San Diego, Gina Burk in South Carolina and Jarrett Edmonds of Houtzdale; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Rufus and Donna Jean Edmunds; a great grandson, Creed; and two brothers: Stephen and John.

Acknowledged for his commendable work ethic, Patrick wore many hats throughout his lifetime career. He found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He delighted in the wind against his face during motorcycle rides, embraced the beauty of new places through his travels, and found peace in his passion for cooking. But above all else, it was the warmth of familial love that brought him the greatest joy. Whether gathered around the dinner table or simply spending quality time together, Patrick cherished each moment shared with his loved ones and pups.

He served in the US Air Force from 1974 to 1980.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 pm on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N 4^th Avenue, Altoona, 16601 where a funeral service will be held at 6 pm with military honors. Inurnment will take place at Grandview Cemetery.
