Norman P. Cooper

Norman P. Cooper, 76, of Altoona, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Raymond and Rosemary (Daugherty) Cooper. On October 5, 1963 he married Sharon Kaye Troutman in Juniata. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2012 after 49 years of marriage. He is survived by two daughters: Tammy J. Showalter of Robesonia, PA and Dreamalynn Gauntner of Herndon, VA; four grandsons: Seth A. Showalter (Ally) of Fredericksburg, PA, Alex T. Showalter (Sarah) of Mohnton, PA and Steven E. Gauntner and Michael A. Gauntner, both of Herndon, VA. He is also survived by a sister and two brothers and his beloved beagle, Princess. Norman worked as a mechanic for Beasley Ford before retiring from Conrail in 1997. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and enjoyed attending car shows. He was also a member of the Machinist Union at Conrail and he was a lifelong volunteer at the Greenwood Fire Department. At the request of the deceased, private family services held. Interment took place at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boys Town or the American Cancer Society.
