Mona M. Porta, 89, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed into eternal life on Monday at Epworth Manor, following a short illness. She was born in Port Matilda, a daughter of the late Sherman John and Nora Mae (Auker) Fink. She married Raymond A. Porta, Jr., on October 4, 1952, in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1990. Mona is survived by two sons, Raymond A., III, (Kris) of Juniata, and Timothy J., (April Schroeder) of Altoona; two daughters, Theresa M. Campbell, (Kevin) of Altoona, and Mary K. Mendez, (JR) of Hollidaysburg; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; one sister Dorothy Laird; two brothers, Blair Fink and Robert Fink. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Fink and Sherman Fink, Jr.; two sisters, Janet Anderson and Gloria Wolfe; and one great grandson, Payton James Selden. Mona retired from Warnaco as a mender after 10 years service. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont, Altoona, and a graduate of Worth Township High School, Port Matilda. Mona enjoyed crocheting, camping, gardening, and fishing, as well as spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held during the Receiving time and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Michael Becker, celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
