Michael Robert Speck, 76, Bellwood, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Michael M. and Catherine L. (Luich) Speck. On May 2, 1970, he married Evie C. Steinbauer at St. Joseph’s Church in Bellwood.
In addition to his wife, Evie, of 51 years; he is survived by four children: Evie C. Bacza and husband Steve, Sr., Barbara Ann Gibbons and husband Kevin, Michael F. Speck and wife Holly, and Alicia M. Raven and husband Bradley; grandchildren: Steven Bacza, Jr. and wife Kim, Benjamin Gibbons and fiancé Brooke, Joshua Gibbons, Matthew Gibbons, Brendan Speck and fiancé Jamie, Lane Speck, Ashlyn Raven, and soon to be born, Brayden Raven; great grandchildren: Brooke Bacza and soon to be born, Evan Bacza; siblings: Patricia Shultz and husband Danny and Francis Speck and wife Melody; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael was a 1965 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He drove a tractor trailer for numerous companies and retired from Ward Trucking. He most recently was school van driver for Raystown Transit. He was a member of the VFW in Bellwood and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He served in the US Navy.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 6 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N 4th Street, Altoona, 16601 with Rev. Ronald V. Osinski officiating. Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
