Maxine Blanche Adams, 92, formerly of Altoona, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg after an extended illness. She was born in Wood, PA, daughter of the late Benton and Grace (Price) Gutshall. She married George W. Adams, Jr, on April 8, 1947, who proceeded her in death on December 29, 1978. Surviving are her children: George JR (Bettie), Brad, Terry (Eydie), Shawn (Amy) all of Altoona, and Jodi (Suzy) of Huntsville, AL; 15 grandchildren: Brady, Joshua, Nathan, Christine, Brad, Branden, Stephanie, Mallory, Trent, Morgan, Luke, Lance, David, Tim and Nicholas; 23 great grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Gehret of Altoona; and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her son, Jeff; and siblings: Lester, Esther, Vance, Robert "Geech," Jerry, Emma Burk, Ruth McPherson, Doris Blackburn and Vernon. Maxine was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School, employed by Bell Telephone, SKF and retired as a classroom monitor at Calvary Christian Academy. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Maxine was a long time resident of the Blair Towers where she was active in their council. She loved Myrtle Beach, traveling, spending time with her family, and a faithful fan at all of her grandchildrens' events. She was a loving Mom, fun and exciting Grandma who created extraordinary memories with her grandchildren. Maxine loved the Lord, which she shared touching many lives. She was sweet, kind, and a friend to anyone who needed her help. Friends will be received on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 12 until the 3 p.m. Funeral Service at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata. Pastor Jason Mauk officiating. Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg's swing fund in Maxine's honor.
