Louise M. Gottschall, 96, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday evening at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Francis and Lottie (Holland) Grassmyer. She married Emerson “Skip” Gottschall on June 16, 1956, in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death April 7, 1995. Surviving are her children: Deborah Richardson of Lompoc, CA, Ray Gottschall of Dixon, CA, Marie Gottschall of Middletown, PA, Lottie Lewis of Akron, OH, and Drew Gottschall of Altoona; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Robert Grassmyer and Melvin Grassmyer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Carl Gibbon, and two brothers: Louis and Edgar Grassmyer. Louise was a homemaker, and had retired from Safe-T-Bak in 1990 as a trimmer/inspector. She also had served as a Rosie the Riveter during WWII. She had attended the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, travelling, crocheting, gardening, and especially spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 PM funeral service Friday, August 16, 2019, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Interment at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grane Hospice or the Breast Cancer Foundation.
