Laurie Jo Dey, 77, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at her home. She was born in Lock Haven, daughter of the late Charles R. and Elanor L. (Sauers) Burd.
Surviving is her daughter, Laulena Y. Leighty (Erik) of Williamsburg; three grandchildren: Tarynn Friedenberger (Christopher) of Altoona, Tambri Klein (Matthew) of Altoona and Tanner Snyder of Munster; and great-grandchildren: Hayden, Hailey, Hadley, Natalia, Marie, Alyssa, Ryker and Jackson; two sisters, Martha Strawmier and Jane Ozio; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her significant other, Edward Friedenberger; and her brother, David Burd.
Laurie was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafting, coloring and art of all kinds, bingo, gardening, going to the beach, and completing puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
