Joseph F. Gulish, 91, formerly at The Winds at Mattern Orchard, passed away Thursday morning at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.
He was born in Belsena Mills, PA, son of the late Allen and Hellen (Kowalcyck) Gulish. On August 8, 1969, he married Marcia J. Wills at the Fairview United Methodist Church in Altoona. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2009.
He is survived by two sons: Frank A. (Debbie) Gulish of Ridgeland, SC and Dave Jenkins of Sanford, NC; two daughters: Wendy (John) Zimmerman of Shippensburg and Pamela Gulish of Hollidaysburg; four grandsons: Xan Gulish, Bradley Seltzer, Matthew Jenkins and Luke Jenkins; and a sister, Betty Lockett of Ashland, OH.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Richard Gulish and Dorothy Yurkovich.
Joe was a graduate of Madera High School. For over 30 years, he owned and operated Gulish Nursery and Garden Center in Pinecroft.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing cards.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 7. Inurnment will be made at Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Glasgow, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
