John Phillip Harris

December 1, 1937 — July 9, 2021

John P. Harris, 83, of Altoona, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday morning at his home.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Kenneth and E. Mildred (Corneilius) Harris and formally lived in Cresson and Duncansville. He married his high school sweetheart, LeDonna Mae Frederick, at the Congregational Christian Church in Winchester, VA on August 29, 1955.She preceded him in death on November 20, 2020; they were married for over 65 years.

Surviving are two sons: Dr. John A. (Penny) of Duncansville and RN Zane of Cresson; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ron.

He had a special remembrance in his heart for Pop Fouse and Mom (Kiefman) Kerns for the love they had for him and his family.

He was a 9 year, 10 month veteran of the United States Air Force serving for over 5 years in Japan, Germany, and Turkey.

His schooling while in the military was at Keesler AFB, Mississippi and Fort Meade/NSA in Maryland.

He is a member of the true Church, “the Body of Christ” having trusted that Christ died for his sins and rose again.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 4 until the 6 p.m. funeral and committal service at the Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Avenue, Altoona, 16602 with Pastor Aaron J. Harris and Pastor Stewart McClelland officiating. Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery.
