John Earl Fisher, Jr.

Joh Earl Fisher, Jr., 81, Altoona, went to be with the Lord, Thursday morning at Epworth Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Tyrone.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late John E., Sr. and Minnie Bell (Gates) Fisher. On March 10, 1962, he married Judith Elizabeth Gailey. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2013.

John will be lovingly remembered by his children: Kevin Fisher (Shelley) of Altoona, Douglas Fisher (Diana) of Altoona, Kenneth Fisher (friend Leslie) of Cresson, and Rebecca McConnell (Scott) of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Brian Fisher, Stacey Fisher, Rachel Dano, Shelby Fisher, Kimberly Fisher, Zachary McConnell, Nathaniel McConnell, and Matthew Fisher; seven great-grandchildren: Westley Zitsch, Mia Zitsch, Mason Criste, Owen Hofer, Elizabeth Hofer, Lacey McConnell, and Oliver Dano.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

John was 1957 graduate of Altoona High School. He was co-owner of Fisher & Adams Masonry and owner of J.E. Fisher Builders. He worked as clerk of the works for a number of school projects in Bellwood and St. Francis University before hiring on as a construction superintendent with Johnson Builders Corp. before retiring in 2007.

John was an honorary member of the Swiss Club and lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed reading the paper, doing the daily crossword, golf, baking, and canning. He was a quiet hard working man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Friends will be received on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4^th Avenue, Juniata. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
