Jo Ann Fletcher, 79, Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Huntingdon, daughter of the late William Raymond and Charlotte Mae (Erb) Fletcher.
On August 31, 2019, she married David Schumacher.
She is survived by three daughters: Brenda Yarnell of Duncansville, Sandy Watters (Robert) of Altoona and Barbara Pfiester (Terry) of Paris, TX; grandchildren: Nicole, Zachary, Ashley, Robbie and Bryan; great grandchildren: Elijah, Abigail and Lillian; three sisters: Diane Sweed (Robert) of Altoona, Melody Chencharick (Dennis) and Charlotte Smith (Galen) of Huntingdon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Chihuahua, Abby.
She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin “Butch” Lower and a brother, Thomas Fletcher.
Jo Ann was a devoted member of Trans4mation Church for over four decades. Her vibrant spirit illuminated the lives around her as she actively participated in the church community, bringing joy to countless gatherings through her involvement in plays and her heartfelt contributions to meal planning.
Her compassionate heart shone brightly in her years as a caregiver, where she devoted herself to the care of the elderly, offering not just her skills but also the warmth of her companionship. Her passion for life was reflected in every detail; whether she was decorating a space to make it feel welcoming or indulging in delightful shopping trips to Lancaster and San Antonio.
She cherished a good meal shared with loved ones. Forever inspired by her hero, Andy Williams, Jo Ann infused her life with music and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts she touched.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Trans4mation Church, 1001 S 1st Street, Altoona, PA 16602 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am with Pastor Jim Balzano officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.
