Janet C. Johnson, 88, of Greenwood, went to be with the Lord Monday, at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Alton G. and Ida M. (Gildlesberger) Wilt. She married Carl A. Johnson, Sr., on September 21, 1952 in Greenwood. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1996. Surviving are a son, Carl A. Johnson, Jr., of Altoona, a daughter Vicki Hockenberry and husband Charles, of Dysart, six grandchildren: Charles Hockenberry, Phebe Bittner and husband Christopher, Jacob Hockenberry and wife Natalie, Carl Johnson, Erik Johnson and wife Sarah and three great grandchildren; Kali Hockenberry, Zane Hockenberry and Caleb Bittner, and one brother Martin Wilt and wife Barb. She was preceded in death by her grandson Ryan Johnson, a sister, Lois Miller and daughter in law Victoria L. Johnson. She was an active member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. Janet retired from Bell Telephone as a customer service representative in 1988 after 38 year’s service. She was a graduate of Altoona High School and was involved with the Telephone Pioneers, and enjoyed the old Raystown and the new. She also loved watching Penn State Sports. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1505 E Walnut Avenue, Altoona, 16602, with Pastor Duane Coy officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park.
