James W. Fisher, Jr., 75, Altoona, passed away Friday.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late James W., Sr. and Arlene (Bennett) Fisher.
On March 10, 1973, he married Deborah L. Parsons in Altoona.
In addition to his beloved wife, Deborah, of 52 years; he is survived by three children: Stefanie Fornari, Gwen Eaken and James A. Fisher, all of Altoona; grandchildren: Chuckie, Mason, Tyson, Bryson, Jaxson and Gabriella; and siblings: Connie Dively (Charles) and Karen Long (Tim). He is also survived by his special companions: Buddy and MaeLee.
James retired from Veeder Root where he worked in customer service. He also worked at Arthur Treacher’s for 15 years and Baird Brothers for 10 years.
He enjoyed gardening and growing fruits and vegetables, taking care of his chickens, woodworking, and reading his Bible.
He served in the United States Marines from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam Conflict where he received the rank of Corporal. He received numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and Rifle Marksman Badge.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 pm with military honors. Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or to Second Avenue Global Methodist Church, 130 2nd Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
