Ilene M. Barney

Ilene M. Barney, 75, Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John E. and Helen (Gladis) Smith. On July 20, 1968, she married John F. Barney at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Altoona. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2019. Ilene is survived by a daughter-in-law, Angela Barney of New York; a sister-in-law, Deborah Hoover of Hollidaysburg; a niece, Melissa Mayhue of North Carolina; nephews: John T. Smith, II of Delaware and Stephen Smith of Philadelphia; and good friends: Charles and Karen Rutherford of Bellwood and William and Belinda Rhodes of Altoona. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Barney; a brother, John T. Smith; and beloved companion, her dog, Angel. Ilene was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A private family service will be held. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc.
