Henrietta Weidley

September 5, 1924 — November 19, 2022

Henrietta M. Weidley, 98, Altoona, stepped into the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday.

She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late David A. and Henrietta (Lingenfelter) Mulhollan. On July 18, 1953, she married Frank S. Weidley in St. Paul Lutheran, Altoona. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2007.

She is survived by two sons: Jeffrey L. of Glen Burnie, MD and Kenneth R. and wife Cheryl of Duncansville; three grandchildren: Jeffrey (wife, Laura), Christopher (wife, Jennifer), and Melanie Weidley Rohrer (husband, Brian); and seven great grandchildren: Nathan, Harrison, Piper, Kierstin, Brynne, Calla and Brooks. She loved us all.

Henrietta was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School, a 1945 graduate of the Altoona Hospital Nurse Training School, a 1949 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing Education and began her career as a Supervisor from 1946-49 at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Her career continued to Delaware Hospital, Wilmington, DE from 1949-52 where she was given the position of OB Supervisor and Instructor. In 1952-53, Henrietta became Asst. Director of Nursing, Mt Sinai Hospital, Hartford, CT. She moved back to Altoona where she worked from 1955-75 at Altoona Hospital in various positions from OB Instructor, Med/Surgery Nurse, Head Instructor of OBS, and finished her work as the Coordinator of Curriculum. After 12 years of service, she retired from the Altoona Hospital on October 1, 1979.

She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Altoona, where she served at the church clerk for many years, coordinator for the senior group, Faithful Followers, a member of the church choir, and always willing to volunteer for VBS and other activities at the church. She was very loved and respected by the pastoral staff and members of Calvary. She also served as a teacher with Child Evangelism Fellowship, providing Good News Clubs and Summer Missions.

Friends will be received from 10 am until Noon on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, 16602 where a funeral service will immediately follow at Noon. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc.
