Helene Z. Field, 92, Altoona, passed away Friday evening at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Knee) Stewart. On November 28, 1946, she married Robert “Bob” B. Field at the Otterbein Methodist Church in Juniata. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Jeannette I. Esper (Philip) of Altoona; a granddaughter, Melissa Phillips (Jeremy) of Altoona; a grandson, Eric Esper (Melissa) of Altoona; four great grandsons: Stone Phillips, Evan Esper, Ian Esper, and Tyler Esper; a brother-in-law, Richard Field (Susan) of Georgetown, TX; a sister-in-law, Alice Peterson of Harper, KA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helene was the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Thomas, John, and Russell; and her sisters: Naomi, Mary Margaret Welches, Nora McMillan, Madeline Carothers, and her twin sister, Ruth Miller. Helene worked for Coaches Inn as a cook, the Blair Shoe Factory, and at the Salvation Army as a sorter. She enjoyed spending time with her great grandsons, embroidery, and word search books. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona with Rev. William Ice, Officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.
