Harry A. Yeager, age 79, of Juniata, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025. Born on March16, 1945, in Juniata to Merrill and Pauline (Harshberger) Yeager.
Harry lived his entire life in the community he cherished.
Harry married Louise Ann (Hartman) Yeager on February 27, 1965, and they shared 56 years together. Louise preceded him in death on July 7, 2021.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and quiet strength.
Harry was deeply involved in Trinity Lutheran Church where he served faithfully for many years.
His commitment to his faith was evident in all aspects of his life and he found great fulfillment in his contributions to the church. His lifelong devotion and support will be forever missed by the church community.
Harry spent every Spring planning and starting seeds for his garden which he meticulously maintained even in his later years. He loved music of “most” types, cooking new recipes, and you would find him sitting on the swing in the yard or his rocking chair on the porch, “surveying the block” where generations of neighbors affectionately referred to him as the Mayor.
Harry is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer L. Hippo (Michael), Stefanie L. Yeager Hamilton (Robert), and Jessica A. Engleman (Eric), as well as his four cherished grandchildren – Schuyler (‘Turkey’/’Turk’), Grant (‘Skippy’/’Skip’), Nevan (‘Chipmunk’/’Chip’), and Grace (always just ‘Princess’), whom he loved dearly. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart and their lifelong nicknames were a reflection of the unique bond they shared with him.
Grace affectionately called him her ‘Little Chicken’ and never shied away from telling everyone just how cute he was.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 North Sixth Street, Altoona, on Sunday, March 9th, 2025, at 2 P.M. followed immediately by a dinner at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Harry will be deeply missed, but his spirit – particularly his devotion to God, family and the unique bonds he shared with his grandchildren - will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
