George Armstrong Swander, Jr.

George Armstrong Swander, Jr., 70, Altoona, passed away Tuesday afternoon at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George Armstrong, Sr. and Dorothy Swander. On September 27, 1974, he married Beth A. Weigand in Altoona. He is survived by his wife, Beth; three sons: George Armstrong Swander, III and wife Talena, Brian P. Swander and girlfriend Sheryl and Brad J. Swander; all of Altoona; 11 grandchildren: Logan, Wade, Rylee, Greyson, and Camron Swander, Ali and Tessa Swander, Taylor Berardi, and Aydin, Christian and Liam Swander; a brother, Jacob Swander and wife Marilyn; numerous nieces and nephews; and his three beloved German Shepherds: Journey, Shadow, and Koda. George retired from the Railroad and he volunteered at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department for over 55 years. At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held.
