Gary E Wertz

Gary E. Wertz of Altoona passed on July 31st after a brief illness at UPMC Altoona.

He was 91 years old, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a loving husband to his wife of 66 years, Marion, and loving and supportive father of two sons, Chris and Rick. He was very fond of his grandson, Eric Wertz.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and really, everyone at UPMC for their wonderful care, their support, and especially their willingness to provide information. We would also like to thank the Altoona and Pittsburgh Veterans Hospitals for their care over the years.

Arrangements will be handled by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. and internment will be provided by Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Wertz decided he wanted to keep things simple, as was his way! There will be no viewing or service, but a memorial is to be planned by his sons and grandson.
