Francis Rahm, 84, of North Huntingdon, PA, formerly of Altoona, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at UPMC East Monroeville Pa.
He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Joseph D. and Anna (Schoch) Rahm.
Francis was married to Beverly Koch on December 4, 1965. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2022.
Their son, Frank Rahm, passed away on June 5, 2021.
Francis is survived by his daughter Lori (Michael) Smith of North Huntingdon, three grandchildren; Richard (Kylie), Andrew(Jenna) and Mitchell; 5 great grandchildren Alexee, Coleson, Brynlee, Waylon and Willie; and sister, Bertha Lear, of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by eight of his siblings: William, Joseph, Kenneth and Robert, Erna Hocherl, Helen Hanlon, Lillian Hallinan, and Dolores Schirf.
Francis was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Butterick(American Can Company) as a machine operator and also as a custodian at the Altoona School of Commerce. He was self-employed at Francis Rahm Painting for many years. Francis enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Steelers and Penn State football, fishing and hunting, camping, gardening, and woodworking and was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society. He and his wife Beverly physically built their home and had a small orchard of various fruit trees, a vegetable garden and many perennial gardens. He liked playing poker and pinochle with his wife, siblings and their spouses, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Family and friends will be received from 12 to 1 pm on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1 pm with Father Brian Norris officiating. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery.
