Evelyn W. McClellan, 94, Altoona, passed away Saturday, April 30 at Graystone Manor Bellmeade. She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Shaner Widney. On June 21, 1950, she married her true love, Ralph Clair McClellan. He who preceded her in death on May 18, 2020. Evelyn is survived by three sons: J. Scott and wife Sharon of Altoona, David C. and wife Jody of Virginia Beach, VA, and John M. and wife Stephanie of Salisbury, MD; her sister, Dorothy “Dolly” Lucas and husband Luke of Tyrone; as well as grandchildren: Amanda McClellan of Virginia Beach, VA, Cody McClellan and his wife Nicole of Jacksonville, FL, and Mallory Snyder and her husband Calvin of Fort Mill, SC. Her younger brother, Clarence Widney, Jr. passed away in 2006. Evelyn graduated from Thomas Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia and was a private duty nurse at the Altoona Hospital as well as many other locations across the region. She was a longtime member of Mardorf United Methodist Church in Altoona where she served as a Sunday School teacher as well as many other positions. In addition, Evelyn was a nearly 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. After retiring, Evie & Clair enjoyed close to 30 years as both full and part time residents of Indian Creek Park in Fort Myers Beach, FL. They were blessed to have enjoyed many friends and wonderful experiences during those years. Friends will be received from 10 until Noon on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at Noon with Chaplain Tim Guyer officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to make a donation, do so in memory of Evelyn to Shriner’s Hospital for Children of Erie.
