Elizabeth May Hershey, 103, Altoona, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ralph G. and Nora (Baith) Montgomery. On May 13, 1939, she married Victor R. Hershey in Altoona at the former First Methodist Church, Juniata. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1985. She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Hershey of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Eugene and Albert Montgomery and Charlotte Henry. Elizabeth was a homemaker. She was a member of the Juniata United Methodist Church where she was very active throughout the years. She was Chair Person of the Council of Ministries, Sunday School Teacher for 50 years, and she was president alongside her husband of the YMCA – Young Married Couples Group. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and was a great cook and baker and worked in the kitchen at the church and served many meals throughout the years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling the world with her daughter. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Juniata, 16601. A private family service will be held immediately following the visitation. Interment will take place at Alto Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
