Edward W. Ryan, III

Edward W. Ryan, III, 77, Altoona, passed away Thursday.

He was born in Sewickley, son of the late Edward W., Jr. and Violet M. (Weinheimer) Ryan.

On March 26, 1977, he married Julia J. Williams at the Washington, D.C. Temple in Kensington, MD.

In addition to his wife, Julia; he is survived by a daughter, Julianna Kekel in Louisa County, VA.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edward W. Ryan, IV; a daughter, Bessie Ryan; and a brother, Reynold A. Ryan.

Edward graduated from the Baltimore City Police Academy. He retired as a Stat Police Officer from the State of Maryland.

He was a member of Hiram Lodge #616, F & AM, and Altoona Master Mason. He enjoyed Ham radio, model airplanes and especially enjoyed wood carving.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1969 to 1973.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Grandview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 22 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 778 Brush Mountain Road, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
