Donna Gail Scherden, 84, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Harry Fay and Mabel (Heaton) Harvey.
She married James W. Scherden in 1958 in Winchester. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2007.
She is survived by four children: James M. Scherden (Shelley) in Altoona, Jeffrey A. Scherden (Cathy) in Huntingdon, Denise Lansberry (Michael) in Altoona and Cherri Scherden in Altoona; grandchildren: Ellen (Troy) Forshey, Rene (Matt) Newman, James (Gwen) Scherden, Jr., Jennifer (Bill) Mayes, Melissa Jarrett, Eric (Bri) Scherden, Corey and Andrew Wertz, Caleb Lansberry, Alexis Lansberry, Nick Helsel, Laura (Tim) Wolchko, Lindsey Helsel and Chelsea (Colton) Trotter; great grandchildren: Trey Forshey, Alicia Forshey, Hannah Arch, Cassidy Newman, Lucy Newman, Savannah DiCello, Violet and Sammy Scherden, Carson Lansberry and Mable Trotter; a great-great grandson, Jaxson Forshey; and a sister-in-law, Carol and Tony Jurewicz.
She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Hazel Trotter.
Gail was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School. She worked for Sylvania and later retired after many of service from Pleasant Valley Recreational Center.
She enjoyed card club games, bowling, trips to the casino and especially loved trips to the beach with her family.
Friends will be received from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12 pm. Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park.
