Denna M Machiarola

Denna M. Machiarola, 88, Altoona, passed away Friday evening at Homewood at Martinsburg. A dedicated wife and nurturing mother, she was always a giver-never a taker. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Gilbert H. and Olivia (Durandetti) Dandrea. On June 28, 1958, she married Francis R. Machiarola at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Juniata. In addition to her husband, Francis; she is survived by a daughter, Maria A. Machiarola of Pittsburgh; two siblings: David Dandrea (Virginia) of Altoona and Diana Crawford of Juniata; sister-in-law, Lora Whitney (Jerry); brother-in-law, Anthony Machiarola (Carol); and her beloved companion, Mitzi. She was also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings: Daniel and Gilbert, Jr. Denna was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired in 1994 from ECHO Water as a bookkeeper. An accomplished baker and cook, Denna enjoyed creating treats for family and friends until only a few short weeks ago. Denna had a close circle of friends she enjoyed spending time with. She will be deeply missed by her friends-Judith, Nancy, Alice, Denise, John and Cathy. She was a kind, sensitive soul who loved deeply and unconditionally. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona. At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
