David E. “Unc” Roessing, 76, of 1620 Maine Drive, Altoona, died Friday at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Strand and Alice Roessing. He married Sherri Nelson on April 18, 1986, in Manassas, VA. Unc is survived by his wife; one daughter, Dawn Jacobs (Jerome), of Freeland, MD; one stepson, Sean Detwiler, of Sacramento, CA; three step grandchildren, Collin Johnson, of Libby, Montana, Piper Detwiler, of Sacramento,CA, and Susan Jacobs, of Freeland, MD; one sister, Barbara Murphy, of Sarasota, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Fred Roessing, and one sister, Lois Ruggerio. Unc retired from Amtran as a first class mechanic. He was a member of Catholic War Vets, the Buccinese Club, and the Newburg Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. A Private Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to a 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service at Rose Hill Cemetery on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Blair County Honor Guard. At Unc’s request, all those attending are asked to wear blue jeans and a t-shirt to the Viewing and Funeral Service.
