Claudia M. Wall, 95, Altoona, passed away early Saturday morning at her home.
She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Harry M. and Pauline (Miller) Shaffer. On December 14, 1943, she married Lynn C. Wall at the Simpson Methodist Church in Altoona. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2007.
She is survived by two daughters: Trudy Miller and husband Jake of Altoona and Sharon Wilson and husband Jerry of Altoona; four grandchildren: Wendy (Matt) Conrad of Altoona, Michael (Leslie) Miller of Hollidaysburg, Brett Wilson of Altoona, and Bart (Erica) Wilson of Altoona; seven great grandchildren: Ty and Dakota Wilson, Parker Wilson, Dylan and Rachel Conrad, and Jake and Bethany Miller; great-great granddaughters: Riyann Emmil and soon to be great granddaughter, Jordyn; a sister, Shirley Jaehn of Boston, NY; and a brother-in-law, Donald Dicken of Hollidaysburg.
She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Carolyn Dicken.
Claudia was a graduate of Clearfield High School. She worked for S&H Stamps Card and Gift Shop in downtown Altoona and was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church.
In 1943, Claudia’s husband, Lynn, came home on leave from the Army in December 1943 and were married before he went off to war. He returned home after being wounded in battle in Germany and they began their married life. When Lynn retired and became disabled, Claudia cared for him until he passed in 2007. She was a loving caretaker and a doting babysitter caring for her children and grandchildren whom she loved to bake batches of cookies for. She loved to garden and loved the little creek that ran beside her house. She was anxious to return to normal life after being quarantined for the past year; anxious for hugs and visits from family and friends and returning to church and Tuesday morning Bible Study.
The family would like to send a special thanks to all of her caregivers who provided such loving care.
