Christopher Albert McConnell, 49, Altoona, died Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his residence, after a 10 month battle with cancer. He was born in State College, on September 3, 1972, a son of the late Stephen P. and Rosemary (Cataldo) McConnell. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He was married to Dorothy J. (Weidlich), on February 28, 2003, who survives along with two daughters, Sydnee McConnell and Carlee McConnell, both at home. Coming from a large family, he had two sisters, Erin McConnell and Corey Craw (Adam), both of Altoona, one brother, Sean McConnell (Elizabeth) of State College, Sisters-in-law Jodie Schock, Nikki Dale (Mike) and Melanie Weidlich, numerous nieces and nephews. Mother-in-law Debra Fleck (Ed), Uncle David (Sue) McConnell, Aunt Alberta Vellone (Nadra), and Uncle Richard (Barbara) Cataldo and many cousins. He was a 1990 graduate of Altoona High School and had attended Penn State University. He worked as a mechanic at the Slinky Factory. He loved going to the beach with his family and was an avid reader. He enjoyed playing in pool and dart leagues with many friends. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pirates and Steelers and taking his daughters to Mansion Park to watch the Bishop Guilfoyle football games. However, the most important thing to him was being with his wife and daughters. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2022, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
