Bruce A. “Boots” Ralston, 86, Altoona, passed away at home on Saturday surrounded by his family.
He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Morrison C. and Therma (Kenyon) Ralston.
He is survived by his older brother, Morrison C. Ralston (Bud); two sons: Bruce Alan Ralston and George JC Ralston (Jill); eight grandchildren: Tiphanie, Zachary, Charles, Ian, Jessica, Joseph, James and Garrett; and three great grandchildren: Delilah-Rose, Oliver and Eloni.
Bruce was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia on the USS Forrestal; upon completion of his enlistment, he further enlisted in the Naval Reserves as a Sea Bee, Electrical Specialist, where he served for 30 plus years.
Boots retired from Sylvania. Following the closing of the plant, he worked many jobs in the Central, PA area as an assembly line electrician.
He enjoyed tinkering with computers and was fascinated by technology. He had a love for old cars and repairing them. Boots was a past member of the Blue Lodge and the Jaffa Shrine.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. Friends will also be received from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, October 7 at the funeral home where a funeral service will be held at 11 am with Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating and military honors.
