Virginia R. Grim, 87, of the Veterans Home in Hollidaysburg, died Sunday at the home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Christian Baish and Gertrude Wyoming (Haines) Green. She married William E. Grim September 26, 1938, in Upper Marlboro, MD. He preceded her in death in January, 1987. Surviving are four children: one son William Grim, Jr., and his wife Peggy of Altoona; three daughters: Josephine Selden, Janet Philips and her husband Steven, all of Altoona, and a daughter Beatrice Saxion and her husband Jack of Brunswick, OH.; 11 grandchildren (3 which she raised in her home); 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Gertrude (Grim) (Conway) Mellott, and one son John Grim. Virginia was a practical nurse for many years. She was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church, and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, reading, music, and poetry, and especially spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 1-3 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where funeral services will be held at 8 PM, with Pastor Dave McClanahan, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
