Ernest Csato, 89, of Altoona, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday evening at Altoona Center for Nursing Care. He was born in Trenton, NJ, a son of the late Matthias and Helen (Kratchwich) Csato. He met Lillian Frederick while at Bible School in Philadelphia and they were married March 2, 1952, at Central Baptist Church, Trenton, NJ. He spent 4 ½ years in the U.S. Army and was a graduate from Bob Jones Academy and from Bible School in Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, one sister, Margaret Wengert, of Trenton, NJ; 2 brother in laws: Jess Frederick and Jim Frederick; 3 sister in laws: Ledonna Harris and husband John, Sr., Jennie Zeigler, and Ledonna Lee; as well as several nieces and nephews. Ernie and Lillian spent time as missionaries in Viequez, Puerto Rico, in Village Missions in the U.S., and 26 ½ years in Rescue Mission work with 20 of those years at the Altoona Rescue Mission. Ernie and Lillian spent many hours going door to door sharing Gospel tracts and witnessing for Christ. Health problems caused Ernie to retire. Friends will be received 1-4 PM Friday, January 9, 2009, at Altoona Bible Church. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. at the church with Pastor Stewart McClelland officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
