Ethel J. Schorner, 86, of Altoona, died Tuesday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert and Annie (Mingle) Rigg. She married Adam Schorner March 3, 1951, in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death August 29, 1988. Surviving is a son Edward Schorner and his wife Diane of Lititz, PA, two daughtersMada Buda and her husband Denny of Duncansville, and Carol Klobetanz and her husbad Randy of Altoona; one sister Kathryn Temofonte of Altoona; grandson Shawn Riling and his wife Faith of Bellwood, PA, grandson Shane Riling of DuBois, PA; great-granddaughter Aliyah Riling of Bellwood, PA, and a great-grandson Elijah of Bellwood, PA; as well as a brother-in-law Norman Schorner. She was preceded in death by two brothers: George and William Rigg, and five sisters: Dolly Yon, Ann Rigg, Naomi Johnson, Mary Ehrenfeld, and Eleanor Schraff. Ethel was a homemaker. She was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School, and enjoyed bingo, bowling, scrabble, puzzles, bus trips, and especially spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc..Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 20, at Mardorf United Methodist Church, with Rev. Edward J. Preston, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mardorf United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
