Emma M. Rung, 82, of Altoona, died Wednesday at Altoona Hospital. She was born in Warriors Mark, PA, daughter of the late Roy E. and Edna M (Shank) Peterson. She married Wilbur K. Rung August 9, 1950, in Spruce Creek, PA. He preceded her in death April 1, 1989. Emma is survived by two sons: Leroy Rung and his wife Andrea of Harrisburg, PA, and George Rung and his wife Cathy of Hershey, PA; grandsons David Rung, Jake Rung, and Christopher Rung, and granddaughters Emma Rung, Katrina Ardire and her husband Brian, and Allison Rung; one great-granddaughter Anna Ardire, a brother Robert Peterson of California, brother Warren Peterson of Levittown, PA, brother Roy Peterson of Alexandria, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother-Jim Peterson. Emma was an elementary teacher for Altoona School District for a number of years. She was a graduate of Warriors Mark High School, as well as Lock Haven State Teachers College. She was a member and past treasurer of Juniata Presbyterian Church. She was a long time 64 year member of the Order of the Easter Star, as well as the Jobel Court, and the Daughters of the Nile. She volunteered at the Altoona Hospital, and loved baking and cooking, and enjoyed bowling and gardening. Friend will be received from 6-8 PM Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Monday at Juniata Presbyterian Church at 11 AM. Committal at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
