LeCrone, Fred T. Sr. Fred Thomas LeCrone, Sr., 78, of LeCrone Road, Altoona, PA, died Saturday April 4, 2009, after an automobile accident in Berkley Springs, W.VA. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harold Edgar and Florence Maude (Thomas) LeCrone. He married Gail Arlene Yeager in November, 1960, at Grace United Methodist Church, Altoona, PA. Surviving are two daughters: Suzanne LeCrone of Altoona, PA, Sharon LeCrone Payne of Bedford, PA, and also in Jacksonville, Fl.; five grandchildren: Anastasia LeCrone of Altoona, Keirstyn, Bailey, Alie, and Cody Payne all of Jacksonville, FL; one brother Leonard LeCrone of Altoona, and one sister Jane L. Gunder of Mechanicsburg, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Sterrett of Williamsport, PA, and an infant sister Evelyn Jean LeCrone. Tragically, both Fred's wifeGail LeCrone and son, Fred LeCrone, Jr., died in the accident as well. Fred retired in 1990 after selling his company, LeCrone Transfer and Storage in Altoona. He was a member of the 46th Pennsylvania Regiment Band (Civil War), a member of Altoona Community Band, and a member of Nittany Antique Machinery Association. He was a member at Grace United Methodist Church in Altoona, where he was extremely active in the ministry there, and was one of six generations of family membership at that church. He loved his church, and served the Lord there in countless areas. He was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School, then went on to attend Penn State School of Agriculture. He was drafted in 1952 to the U. S. Army, serving his country in Alaska. He enjoyed collecting vintage autos and motorcycles, loved camping and boating, and especially spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Memorial services for the LeCrone family will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Grace United Methodist Church, Altoona, with Pastor Sharon A.
