Fred T. LeCrone, Jr, 47, of Altoona, PA, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, after a tragic auto accident in Berkley Springs, W.VA. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Fred T. and Gail L LeCrone, who also passed away in the accident. Surviving are two sisters: Suzanne LeCrone of Altoona and Sharon LeCrone Payne of Bedford, PA and Jacksonville, FL, and their children, Anastasia LeCrone of Altoona, Keirstyn, Bailey, Alie, and Cody Payne of Bedford, PA, and Jacksonville, FL., numerous aunts, uncles, second cousins, and his cousins: Kenton Yeager, Bryan Yeager, Aaron Yeager, Dawn Amrhein, Nancy Lieberman, Jesse Gunder, III, Jeff LeCrone, Joe LeCrone, and Samantha Yeager. He was preceded in death by his cousin Scott A. Gunder. He was affectionately known by his nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved, as Ni'Chan. Fred was a Japanese translator in Nara, Japan, for 20 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Altoona. He volunteered annually for Habitat for Humanity, he toured with "Up With People", with whom he performed in the 1986 NFL Halftime show, was a past member of Altoona Community Theatre, and was active at Kobe Union Church in Japan. He was an avid photographer, was an information technological expert, and enjoyed recreational activities, including adventure sports such as Scuba diving and waterskiing. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, April 8, at Grace United Methodist Church, Altoona, with Rev. Sharon A. Ludrowsky, officiating.
