Raymond W Lee

Raymond W. Lee, 81, of Altoona, RD#4, passed away Sunday morning at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus after a fall at his residence. He was born in Frugality, Pa, a son of the late Harrison S. and Edith (Dunn) Lee. Along with his parents, Mr. Lee was preceded in death by a sister Iona V. and husband Robert E. Duncan and nephew Brian T. Duncan. On June 28, 1958, at the Juniata Methodist parsonage he married E. Juanita Miner who survives at Altoona RD#4. He is also survived by two daughters, Terri R. Rhone and her husband Mike of Altoona, Susan L. Gittings and her husband Chad of York. Three grandchildren Cheyenne and Shane Rhone and Macie Grace Gittings, nephews Pat and wife Laverne Duncan, Blair and wife Bonnie Duncan, Bill and wife Julie Duncan and niece Eileen Duncan. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre. Following his discharge he studied drafting and surveying at Penn State University. Mr. Lee retired as a welder from Altoona Pipe and Steel. Prior to that the worked at the Penn Alto Garage. He enjoyed restoring Antique cars, yard sales and flea markets and was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Friends will be received from 11am until 3pm Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 3pm, Friday at the funeral home with Lay pastor Linda Williams and Rev. Carol Gathagan, officiating. Interment at Asbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Altoona RD#1.
