Edward J Janosik

Edward J. Janosik, 82, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Juniata, died Monday at the home. He was born in Juniata, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Seharick) Janosik. Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Panaro of Duncansville, Ann Krupar of Elyria, Ohio. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, William and Albert and John. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1946 after serving more than two years in the United States Navy during World War II. He served aboard the Destroyer Escort, SS Lovelace. While in the Navy, he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and was involved in the liberation of the Phillipines. During his working years, he worked at Stanley Electric. Friends will be received from 6-8pm Wednesday, April 29, 2009 and 10-11am Thursday, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, where funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
