Alvin F. "Bud" Dinges, 66, of Hollidaysburg, died Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Ernest L. and Louise W. (Waite) Dinges. He married Susan L. Burns on September 1, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Juniata. Surviving are his wife of over 46 years, a daughter Tracy A. Fownes (Dinges) and her husband Henry C. of Pittsburgh, two son's: Brian T. Dinges and his wife Jean M. of Hollidaysburg, and son Todd C. Dinges of Hollidaysburg; grandchildren Benjamin T. Fownes, Sarah Fownes, Brian T. Dinges, Jr., Gregory J. Dinges, Kathryn M. Dinges, and Megan E. Dinges; a brother Max L. Dinges of Williamsburg, PA, and a sister C. Diane Gigliotti (Dinges) of Pleasanton, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bud was the owner of E.L. Dinges Moving and Storage in Hollidaysburg. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as well as Park Hills Country Club, and was a member of Pine Hollow Camp. He was a 1961 graduate of Altoona High School, and enjoyed bicycling, walking, sports-especially Altoona High football, and loved going to his grandchildren's ball games. He was a history buff-having loved Civil War History and Canal history, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his dog Kahlua. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michaels in Hollidaysburg, with Rev. Clement Gardner, officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
