Anna Mary Fries, 96, of Presbyterian Village, Hollidaysburg, died Friday at the Presbyterian Village. She was born in McVeytown, PA, daughter of the late E. Vance and Gertrude (Horning) Kimberly. She married Donald K. Fries on December 26, 1944, in Altoona. He preceded in her in death on September 28, 1954. Surviving are four children: Barbara L. Bardo and her husband Richard of Laureldale, PA , Janet K. Ellis and her husband Steve of Altoona, Linda M. Louder and her husband Larry- "Rusty" Louder of State College, Richard D. Fries and his wife Michele of Pottsville, PA; 6 grandchildren: Jeremy and Daniel Bardo, Casey Louder and his wife Michelle, Amanda Louder, Michael and Gwen Fries; 2 great-grandchildren: Jack and Ryan Louder; one brother Jack L. Kimberly of Irvona, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: George W. and Raymond E. Kimberly. Mrs. Fries was a member of the First Lutheran Church, where she was an active member in the Emanuelite Sunday School Class and also the J.O.Y. Group. She was a 1930 graduate of Altoona High School, and had worked at S.H. Kress & Company for several years. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 26, 2009, and from 10-11 AM, Wednesday, May 27, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, with Rev. Thomas Ekstrand, officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the First Lutheran Church.
